The target audience for this Symposium is PharmD, MD and PhD professionals.

Following the completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

List the specific challenges in developing drugs for rare diseases;
Identify the appropriate path forward to expedite drug development for rare diseases;
Recognize the usefulness of biomarkers for guiding drug development;
Define drug diversion and describe its impact in healthcare facilities;
Describe the pharmacist’s role in identifying and reducing the potential for drug diversion;
Discuss changes in the healthcare system that may have contributed to increased opportunities for drug diversion during the COVID-19 pandemic;
Identify factors in hospital and clinical settings that are normally in place to deter drug diversion;
Recognize opportunities to prevent drug diversion during future pandemic situations.
