PhD candidate
Univ of British Columbia, Canada
My name is Kheireddin Mufti, and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia as part of the Canadian Pharmacogenomics Network for Drug Safety (CPNDS). My research focus lies in the field of Pharmacogenomics, with a specific emphasis on investigating Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) experienced by patients with childhood cancers. By exploring the mechanisms underlying the pathology of such reactions, I aim to identify genomic risk factors that contribute to the occurrence of ADRs, with the goal of uncovering predictive genomic markers that can effectively identify high-risk individuals. My ultimate aspiration is to bridge the gap between pharmacogenomic research and clinical practice, enabling life-saving interventions for children battling cancer by mitigating the risk of severe chemotherapy-induced neuropathy and shielding them from the consequences of such life-threatening reactions.
