Susan E. Shoaf, PhD is Sr. Director of Quantitative Pharmacology at Otsuka Pharmaceutical Development & Commercialization, Inc. where she has worked for the past 20 years developing small molecules for mostly CNS and Cardio-renal indications. After obtaining a PhD in Veterinary Pharmacology at Cornell University, she worked at the Foods Division of USFDA exploring use of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic models in risk assessment and then at the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism evaluating the effect of alcohol on drug metabolizing enzymes, the influence of serotonin on behavior and the utility of 11C-alpha-methyl tryptophan as a tracer of serotonin synthesis in humans.
