Dr. Jann just retired from a full-time academic career last August 2022 where he was a Professor of Pharmacotherapy at the Coll of Pharmacy, Univ of North Texas Health Science Ctr. Although retired, he remains a part-time faculty member and is also a part-time educator for the local science and history museum making science presentations to the metro Dallas-Ft Worth elementary schools in underserved areas to promote STEM education to the next generation of potential healthcare professionals, scientists and engineers.
Dr. Jann received his BS in Biology from the California State Univ and his PharmD degree from the Univ of Southern California. He completed a residency in mental health pharmacy practice at the Univ of Tennessee Health Sciences Ctr and has published over 275 original research papers, review articles, abstracts, book chapters and a textbook on “Applied Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Psychopharmacological Agents.” His publications include work in the area of antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, antidementia and other agents in psychopharmacology. He also published articles in general clinical pharmacology, drug-drug interactions and applications of pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics with antipsychotics and antidepressants.
Dr. Jann served on the editorial boards of four scientific journals that include The Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, CNS Drugs, Molecular Diagnosis and Therapeutics and The Consultant Pharmacist at the time of retirement but served on five additional journals during his academic career. His service to ACCP includes participation in several committees including Executive, Education, Compliance Subcommittee, Nominating and Inclusivity, Diversity & Equity. He contributed by using his knowledge of the accreditation process to provide guidance to the Directors of Education for CME/CE accreditation since 2010. He served as the Newsletter editor, Task Force on the Leadership Development Program and is a prolific mentor to young colleagues. He was elected to the Board of Regents, Secretary and Treasurer (2 terms) and served as Councilor before becoming an ACCP Honorary Regent.
