This Symposium is interdisciplinary for all healthcare professions and across work settings for academia, industry, regulatory agencies and clinical entities, and will be useful for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows/trainees and early-stage career professionals, as well as advanced professionals working in preclinical and clinical drug development and practice settings.

Goals & Objectives:

Following the completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:
  • Apply the 8-Factor Analysis framework to new preclinical and clinical drug evaluations for abuse potential;
  • Summarize critical factors contributing to drug abuse potential evaluation;
  • Identify kratom and its alkaloids as potential novel psychoactive substances with possible therapeutic benefits, detrimental effects and potential for abuse.
