Dr. Edmund Capparelli received his PharmD training at the Univ of California (UC) San Francisco followed by fellowships at Hartford Hosp Connecticut and the Univ of California Irvine. He is currently a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Pharmacy at the Univ of California San Diego in the Div of Host-Microbe Systems & Therapeutics and Adjunct Clinical Professor at Duke Univ in Pediatrics. Dr. Capparelli has nearly 30 years of experience using population pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic methods to model in drug therapy in pediatrics. At UC San Diego, he is the Co-Director for the NICHD-supported Ctr in Research in Pediatric and Development Pharmacology (RPDP) and Specialized HIV Antiretroviral Pharmacology Laboratory within the Infant Maternal Pediatric and Adolescent AIDS Trials (IMPAACT) Network where he has served as protocol pharmacologist for over forty studies of HIV therapies in infants, children and adults. Dr. Capparelli is also the Pharmacometrics Core Director for the NICHD-sponsored Pediatric Trials Network (PTN) and has served on the WHO Pediatric Antiretroviral Working Group, AIDS info Pediatric HIV Treatment Guidelines Committee and Advisory Committees to the US Food & Drug Administration, Ctrs for Disease Control and European Medicines Agency.
